Peter Kirby

Peter Kirby (1921-2000), Founding Partner

Peter Kirby was the founding member (1959) of the firm known today as Kirby Eades Gale Baker.

He specialized in the areas of electrical and mechanical patent matters, as well as the registration of industrial designs.

Mr. Kirby received a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Melbourne in Australia and became a Chartered Patent Agent (United Kingdom) in 1952 and a Registered Canadian Patent Agent in 1954. He was also a Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario.

Among Mr. Kirby's many achievements, he was a Past-President and Honorary Member of the Patent and Trademark Institute of Canada, and Past-President of FICPI Canada. Throughout his career, Mr. Kirby sat on several specialized committees and became known as a prolific author and lecturer on issues of Canadian patent law and practice.
